1912Poltrona Frau is founded in Turin.
1916Renzo Frau launches the first advertising campaign in Turin magazine "Numero".
1919The 128 is unveiled; known as the 1919 in today's catalogue.
1921Late Liberty, this is the year of the 204. The catalogue of 26 models includes bergère, tub and dormeuse chairs.
1923First supply contracts with hotels and ocean liners in partnership with Sicilian company Ducrot.
1925Illustrator Mendez designs a new advertising campaign for office chairs.
1926Poltrona Frau becomes the official supplier of the Royal House of Savoy.
1926Renzo Frau dies at just 45 years of age. His widow Savina Pisati assumes the leadership of the company.
1926Illustrator Golia (Eugenio Colmo) depicts God sitting in a comfortable Poltrona Frau chair.
1928Universal Exposition in Turin: Poltrona Frau furnishes the majority of the exhibition spaces.
1930The legendary 904, today the Vanity Fair, is developed from a sketch by Renzo Frau.
1930Poltrona Frau furnishes the Rex ocean liner, pride of the Italian maritime industry.
1932Poltrona Frau furnishes the Italian Parliament.
1934The Lyra - the Art Deco style armchair with the round backrest - is unveiled.

1939Poltrona 900A, known as the Tabarin in today's catalogue.
1941Savina Pisati hands the reins of the company over to son-in-law Roberto Canziani.
1946First post-war advertising campaign.
1949The 910 Metropolis armchair is unveiled. In Turin, Poltrona Frau furnishes the boardrooms of RAI and SIP.
1950First post-war catalogue: 4 historic models and 15 new models. Poltrona Frau enters the automotive world working alongside Pininfarina.
1960Partners with Pirelli for Novi-Nove, a line of products padded in foam rubber.
1961Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni design the Sanluca armchair which is added to the Poltrona Frau catalogue 40 years later.
1962The Nazareno Gabrielli Group purchases Poltrona Frau. Franco Moschini, the current Chairman, is appointed to manage the company.
1963The company is transferred to Tolentino, in the Marche.
1965Gio Ponti designs the Dezza armchair which wins the Genoa Tecnhotel award.
1967A decade-long partnership with company art director Luigi Massoni begins.
1968The year of the Lullaby, Luigi Massoni's stylish round bed.
1970Restyling of the brand and new catalogue edited by Mimmo Castellano.
1970Sergio Mazza and Giuliana Gramigna design the new Smoking seating system.
1972Partnership with Franco Bettonica and production of the successful Pluma model.
1976The first in-house company technical office is opened in Tolentino.
1976Partnership with Tito Agnoli, assistant to Gio Ponti: he designs the Petronio sofa.
1976Opening of a series of monobrand showrooms in Rome, Bari, Turin.
1981Mario Bellini develops a project for a Poltrona Frau billiards table completely covered in hide.
1981Mario Marenco designs the Movie armchair.
1981Pierluigi Cerri debuts with the Ouverture and Pausa models.
1983Marco Zanuso designs the Interlude armchair.
1984First ergonomic armchair: Antropovarius by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche.
1984Début in the automotive sector with the interiors of the Ferrari-powered Thema 8:32. The Frau Interiors in Motion division is created.
1984Furnishing of the former Church of San Gregoriuccio at the Synagogue of Spoleto, which becomes Sala Frau. The Contract division is launched.
1987I Madrigali 4, the four-poster bed designed by Fabio Lenci and Giovanna Talocci, is exhibited at the World Expo in Brisbane.
1987Poltrona Frau develops the Color System Frau®.
1988Lella and Massimo Vignelli design Poltrona Frau's new coordinated image. Intervista, the armchair used to furnish the RAI TG2 television studios, is unveiled.
1990Franco Moschini acquires the entire company shareholding.
1990Poltrona Frau furnishes the Rome offices of Banca d'Italia.
1992The new Poltrona Frau flagship store is opened in the Soho district of New York.
1992Poltrona Frau conquers Hollywood: the Vanity Fair appears in Mick Jackson's The Bodyguard.
1996Poltrona Frau furnishes the Nuovo Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Giorgio Strehler.
1996Poltrona Monsieur Pol: designed by Avant Travaux, it will furnish the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
1996The West Coast armchair, designed by Richard Meier for the Getty Center in Los Angeles, is unveiled.
1997Pierluigi Cerri designs Lola, which is nominated for the ADI Compasso d'oro award.
1997Ferdinand Alexander Porsche designs the Nuwelle armchair for auditoriums.
1998Michele de Lucchi and Silvia Suardi design the Artù office series.
1998Poltrona Frau produces the interiors of a Ferrari for the first time.
1998Wing by Poltrona Frau: the first table + chair produced entirely from carbon fibre.
1998Leading French architect Jean Nouvel designs the Touch seating system.
1999The European Parliament is opened in Strasbourg with furnishings by Poltrona Frau.
1999The Titano table designed by Pierluigi Cerri wins the ADI Compasso d'Oro award.
2001Poltrona Frau acquires the Gebrüder Thonet Vienna brand.
2001The Cerri & Associati studio designs the Quadra modular seating system.
2002In Rome, Poltrona Frau furnishes Renzo Piano's "Parco della Musica".
2002The Interiors in Motion division furnishes the JAL first-class cabin with seats designed by Ross Lovegrove.
2003Charme, the private equity fund owned by the Montezemolo family, becomes a shareholder in the company.
2003Frank O. Gehry designs the Poltrona Frau seats for the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles
2004The following year Poltrona Frau acquires the Cappellini brand. The Poltrona Frau Group is formed as a result.
2005Acquisition of Cassina, the most representative Italian design brand across the world.
2005Jean-Marie Massaud designs the first Poltrona Frau showrooms in Milan, Rome, Naples.
