Each of the 26 hands carries its own name and unique characteristics. A sophisticated, playful authorial design evoking the craftsmanship and “intelligence of the hands” with which the armchair itself is constructed, representing humanity's ability to imagine, create, and transform.

Art in the hands

The Hand
A gesture, a touch, a trace. The hand has always been the symbol of craftsmanship, the ability to transform and animate matter. It is the bridge between imagination and creation, the distinctive mark of the artisan spirit that has defined Poltrona Frau for over a century.

Gio Ponti
Gio Ponti was one of the most influential architects and designers of post-war Italy. Eclectic and versatile, he evolved from Art Deco to Rationalism and the Modern Movement, working in architecture, interior design, ceramics, and objects. A promoter of the Compasso d'Oro, still the most prestigious global design award, he created the symbol of modern Milan, the iconic Pirelli skyscraper. With the design of the Dezza armchair, Gio Ponti helped define Poltrona Frau’s new direction, following the company’s move to Tolentino in 1962.
