Concept and Design

Poltrona Frau’s Archibald family continues to grow with the Archibald Stools. Designer Jean-Marie Massaud revisits the design formulas that are so dear to him: clean and sleek details for the wooden or metal bases, softened by the curved and welcoming forms of the seat covered in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric. The result is a series of impeccably stylish stools whose more informal allure makes them particularly eclectic and suitable for both modern residential spaces and hotels or hospitality. The ideal complement for the Bob Bistrot series of side tables, the Archibald Stools can be easily matched with other styles or decor to add a touch of sophisticated elegance to classic or modern settings.

The Archibald stool with wooden base represents one of the finest expressions of contemporary Italian design, created by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau. This piece is not merely a seat, but a true element of personality capable of adapting to multiple environments, interpreting with versatility the needs of those who seek refinement, comfort, and uniqueness. Its slender ash wood structure pairs perfectly with a soft and welcoming seat, available in a wide range of premium leathers and fabrics, offering extensive possibilities for customization in both color and material.

Thanks to its essential yet detail-rich design, the Archibald stool fits naturally into open-plan kitchen environments where the central island becomes the heart of social life, or at domestic bar counters where functionality and style must coexist. Its presence also brings a touch of sophisticated elegance to modern living rooms or urban lofts, especially when paired with neutral palettes or bold color contrasts, enhancing both minimalist furnishings and more classic interiors reinterpreted in a contemporary way. The option to choose between different heights makes it suitable for both high bar counters and lower kitchen peninsulas, always ensuring ergonomic and comfortable seating.

In the world of luxury hospitality, the Archibald stool with wooden base becomes a protagonist in hotel lounges, design receptions, rooftop bars, and gourmet restaurants where attention to detail and the quality of materials are fundamental for creating an exclusive atmosphere. In these settings, its refined silhouette integrates seamlessly with other high-end furnishings, becoming a point of reference for those who wish to offer guests an experience defined by comfort and aesthetic excellence.

The Archibald stool also appeals to those furnishing creative workspaces such as professional studios, art galleries, or design showrooms, where attention to detail and the iconic value of objects are central elements. The wide range of upholstery options allows designers to experiment with color combinations and textures, adapting the stool both to sober environments and to spaces characterized by vibrant tones and contemporary accents.

For those who organize exclusive events or set up temporary lounges, the presence of such a recognizable stool can make a significant difference, providing both comfort and strong visual impact. Even in covered outdoor spaces such as verandas or glass-enclosed terraces, the Archibald stool with wooden base can be chosen to create refined relaxation areas, thanks to its durability and the quality of its materials.

Finally, the possibility to customize every detail—from the wood finish to the leather or fabric upholstery—makes this stool ideal for those seeking bespoke furniture capable of harmonizing with natural wood kitchens, lacquered surfaces, precious stone countertops, or steel elements, both in residential interiors and high-end contract spaces. In every situation, the Archibald stool is not simply a seat, but a symbol of style and identity, perfect for those who wish to stand out and experience their home or workspace as something truly unique and personal.
