Pelle Frau® Heritage evolves sustainably

20 April 2026

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Poltrona Frau unveils significant material innovations within the “True Over Time” collection. Taking center stage is Pelle Frau® Heritage, which now adopts the Impact Less tanning process, marking a further step in the brand’s sustainability journey.

Poltrona Frau strengthens its commitment to responsible production by further expanding its range of Impact Less leathers. After ColorSphere®, Nest, and Soulful, Pelle Frau® Heritage also becomes Impact Less. This important milestone means that over 90% of the Pelle Frau® collection now meets higher sustainability standards. The process, introduced in 2022, eliminates chromium from tanning, reduces chemical use by 15% and water consumption by 10%, while preserving the highest quality standards.

A symbol of Italian craftsmanship, Pelle Frau® Heritage evolves without losing its identity. The new leather enhances not only classic upholstery but also the soft shapes of contemporary designs: the surface comes alive with new tactile and visual sensations—glossy, silky, soft, and enveloping. A living, authentic material where every mark and nuance reflects its natural origin. The new color palette embraces contemporary trends while maintaining the depth and transparency typical of aniline finishes.

Alongside Heritage, Pelle Frau® Motif Knits is also renewed through a new heat-embossing technique that enhances the three-dimensional woven effect, making the surface even more textured and pleasant to the touch. The palette is updated with warm, neutral tones designed to highlight the elegance of the texture.

Material innovation continues with the introduction of Ombra di Caravaggio marble, featuring warm gray tones enriched by red-brown veining, and with the expansion of the textile collection. The new fabrics, designed to harmonize with leather and saddle leather, enhance upholstered pieces with an even richer and more sophisticated offering. Three new solid fabrics are designed for large, welcoming surfaces: Calyra combines cotton and wool with a refined micro-pattern, Zahara reinterprets Panama weave with fancy yarns that create elegant chromatic vibrations, while Velisse, a compact and luminous chenille, plays with accents of light and color to enhance depth and elegance. These are complemented by two decorative fabrics, Cadence and Tarenne, featuring tailored stripe patterns: the former ideal for large sofas, the latter perfect for accent seating and standalone pieces.

The new materials and coverings are showcased at the Milan flagship store and will be gradually available in Poltrona Frau stores and online.
