The collaboration between Poltrona Frau and Japanese ceramic artist Yuki Nara, which began with the limited edition “Yuki Nara meets Poltrona Frau,” continues with “Shiwa,” a collection of ceramic vases inspired by nature and its transformations. A meeting of two worlds—art and design—translated into objects destined to endure over time. Shiwa is a Japanese term that refers both to the fine lines that mark the surface of skin, paper, or fabrics, and to the ripples that form on the surface of water. A light and constant movement observed in nature, which the artist has recreated in her vases, conceived as a poetic variation on the theme of matter that continuously transforms and renews itself. Organic forms with soft lines that seem shaped by time, marked by gentle folds that create a rhythm, as if moved by the wind. Shiwa is a project that combines formal research and cultural depth, an exemplary fusion of Eastern aesthetics and Italian savoir-faire.
