Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti transform two design icons with the "Ultime Notizie" pattern

25 march 2025

Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti continue their collaboration, presenting two unique re-editions: the iconic 1919 armchair and the Isidoro trunk-bar upholstered in Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® Impact Less, printed with the evocative Ultime Notizie (Latest News) pattern from the Fornasetti archive.

Following the successful 2024 re-edition of the iconic Poltrona Frau Vanity Fair XC armchair, reinterpreted in the limited-edition Vanity Fair XC Imagine Edition, the collaboration now continues with a duo of particularly captivating statement pieces.

Designed in 1919 and now a timeless classic, the 1919 armchair by Poltrona Frau—a historic bergère model with capitonné leather—has been reinterpreted with a new graphic design, transforming it into a true work of art. The Isidoro trunk-bar, designed by Jean-Marie Massaud in 2007 and inspired by the charm of luxurious transatlantic voyages and the grandeur of the Roaring Twenties, is now enhanced by Fornasetti’s unmistakable aesthetic.

The playful trompe-l'œil printed on Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® Impact Less upholstery features colorful butterflies fluttering over newspaper clippings, inviting the viewer to an "active" and imaginative vision: leather looks like paper and the paper had been initially conceived to be printed on silk. The visual lightness of the print is also an invitation to conceptual lightness: “Don't dwell on the news, because the news is fleeting".

The 1919 armchair and Isidoro trunk-bar, part of the Capsule Collection in collaboration with Fornasetti, will be presented during 2025 Milano Design Week as part of the new The Five Seasons collection. They will be integrated into the Poltrona Frau catalog and will be available for purchase at Poltrona Frau stores worldwide and on the official e-shop in 14 European markets.
