GamFratesi

The Homey dining table designed by GamFratesi aims to shine a renewed light on the value of the home and emphasize the centrality of its role in domestic settings that are increasingly attentive to sharing. This designer table is compact and graphic, characterised by light but volumetric lines, enriched by fine and expertly worked materials. The quintessence of Homey is expressed in its die-cast aluminium legs. In a sculptural play reminiscent of haute couture, the two leg flaps fold and join together without touching, creating a chiaroscuro effect in the centre. A refined stylistic exercise that recalls the workmanship of leather, Poltrona Frau's material of choice. The lines of the two flaps open slightly at the top to transform into the shelf that supports it.

Stine Gam, Danish architect with a master in furniture design. Enrico Fratesi Italian architect graduated with a master in industrial design. Gam and Fratesi gained experience as architects in architecture studio in Japan and Scandinavia before establishing their own design studio. The studio is based in Copenhagen. GamFratesi’s design takes its creative drive from a fusion of tradition and renewal and in an experimental approach to their chosen materials and techniques. With their dual traditional background, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi draw on the classic Danish furniture and craft tradition as well as the classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. Understanding a tradition and addressing it actively in the workshop makes it possible to expand on it. From this cross-cultural substrate they create furniture that respectfully reflects tradition while also featuring unique embedded stories, symbols and associations, often expressed in a minimalist idiom. GamFratesi have received significant awards including Finn Juhl Prize 2015, Elle Decoration International design award (EDIDA) as International Young Designer of the Year 2013, Wallpaper* Design Award as Best interior 2017, Best Designer 2015 by BoBedre, Best Designer 2009 by RUM, Invited as Guest of Honor at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2014. The Homey table by Poltrona Frau, designed by GamFratesi, interprets the dining area as a space for connection, warmth, and aesthetic identity. The design stands out for its light yet distinctive graphic language, built around a die-cast aluminum base whose folded surfaces create an elegant interplay of volumes, light, and shadow. It is a table that feels architectural without appearing cold, perfectly answering the desire to combine contemporary elegance with a welcoming domestic atmosphere.

Homey is particularly well suited to those seeking a dining table that is compact in scale yet visually significant. Its proportions and range of configurations allow it to integrate naturally into both urban apartments and more spacious dining rooms, where maintaining a sense of lightness without sacrificing character is essential. In a contemporary open-plan setting, it can serve as the focal point of everyday gathering and social interaction; in a dedicated dining room, it becomes an element capable of bringing structure and presence to the entire space.

The ability to choose from a variety of tabletop finishes makes the Homey table suitable for a wide range of aesthetic preferences—whether for those who wish to create a warm, tactile, and inviting environment, or for those seeking a more sophisticated and visually striking statement.

For city dwellers who want every square foot of their home to be thoughtfully designed, Homey offers an especially compelling solution for optimizing space without resorting to a table that feels anonymous or overly technical. Its sculptural base reduces visual heaviness and allows the room to feel more open, while the carefully designed support structure introduces a refined detail that makes the table instantly recognizable. In a contemporary apartment with an open kitchen, for example, it can help define a distinct dining area while remaining perfectly integrated with the rest of the home.

The Homey table is particularly suitable both for those who wish to create an intimate and symmetrical atmosphere, ideal for smaller gatherings and private dinners, and for those who need a larger surface capable of accommodating guests, supporting remote work, or functioning as a versatile hub throughout the day.

Homey also finds a natural place in professional and semi-contract environments. In creative studios, elegant meeting rooms, showrooms, and private lounges, it responds to the need for a representative table that encourages dialogue and proximity while maintaining a sophisticated and distinctive presence. Its contemporary yet approachable aesthetic makes it ideal for spaces where it is important to communicate design culture, attention to materials, and a more refined, residential approach to hospitality.

From a stylistic perspective, Homey pairs beautifully with chairs upholstered in leather or fabric, sculptural lighting fixtures, richly textured rugs, and color palettes that combine neutral, warm, or deeper tones. It is ideal for those seeking a table that complements important furnishings without competing for attention. In minimalist interiors, it introduces depth and character; in more layered environments, it brings formal clarity and compositional rhythm. The base, with its distinctive central detail, also creates a strong sense of perceived value even when the table is viewed from a distance.

The Homey table is therefore an especially suitable choice for those who are looking for more than simply a surface to gather around. It is designed for people who want a table capable of defining the atmosphere of a room through elegant conviviality, premium materials, visual lightness, and an architectural presence that remains relevant and appealing over time.
