In the heart of Riyadh, the King Fahad Cultural Center has been renewed as a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s new cultural identity. Originally built in 1987 and recently renovated by the Ministry of Culture in 2022, the KFCC reaffirms its role as a vital hub for the artistic and cultural scene of the capital.

The renovation was led by Giò Forma and Black Engineering, who brought to the project a creative vision inspired by the concept “Everything is a Stage.” Each environment was reimagined as a stage designed to evoke emotion, engagement, and wonder. The architectural space becomes a theater for cultural experience, where everyday life is transformed into a spectacle and the ordinary becomes extraordinary.

Poltrona Frau is proud to have contributed to this significant project by providing a curated selection of furniture pieces from its collection for the relaxation areas and custom-made seating for the main theater. Each element was designed to blend seamlessly with the “digital Salmani” aesthetic conceived by Giò Forma and Black Engineering—a vision that merges Saudi architectural heritage with the contemporary language of technology and experiential design.

The symbolic centerpiece of the project is the King Fahad armchair, an icon of elegance and innovation designed exclusively by Giò Forma and Black Engineering. A perfect synthesis of past and future, this iconic seat combines fine leather, curved wood, brass detailing, and an integrated touch screen, offering an experience that unites comfort, technology, and sophistication. Every material was selected to evoke the prestige and cultural identity of the venue, in line with the values of authenticity, sustainability, and human-centered design.

The project embraces the principles of Salmani architecture—harmony with the environment, cultural continuity, and contemporary functionality—by creating immersive spaces designed to host cultural, artistic, and social events.
