Carrephilia | Armchair

Wilmotte & Associés

Carrephilia is an armchair that combines Parisian heritage and Italian design, the result of the collaboration between Poltrona Frau and Wilmotte & Associés. Its name captures its essence: “carré” evokes the square as a symbol of balance and geometric rigor, while “philia” recalls the idea of hospitality and sharing. A semantic and formal synthesis that perfectly expresses the identity of the seat: strong, welcoming, balanced, yet rich in sophisticated details.

Specifications

The Carrephilia armchair stands out for its visual presence and extraordinary comfort. Its generous proportions are balanced by a surprising optical lightness, achieved through the use of a network of Pelle Frau® strips woven with a technique inspired by cannage, yet reinterpreted in a contemporary way. The result is a transparent, sophisticated, and durable texture that envelops the seat in a continuous flow between interior and exterior, like an endless ribbon. The sophisticated woven motif, inspired by the world of high-fashion leather goods, is applied to a wooden structural frame with sartorial precision. The steam-bent ash armrests define the silhouette with a fluid and elegant twist that extends from the top of the backrest to the horizontal plane, with a calibrated outward projection ensuring the best comfort experience. Carrephilia is a highly customizable product: finishes, colors, and materials can be chosen and adapted according to the needs of each project, ensuring maximum consistency with high-end hospitality and residential contexts.
