The Askos jug is notable for its sculpted appearance, accentuated by the satin and acid-etched finish of its curved surfaces. The base and the top edge of the glass meanwhile have a transparent finish to create a contrast between the glossy and matt surfaces. Thanks to the ergonomic handle the jug is safe and easy to use. The bottom of the jug bears the Poltrona Frau logo, made from sand, and the signature of Angelo Mangiarotti. The Askos jug has been produced exclusively for Poltrona Frau since 2018.

Concept and Design

Inspired by the shape of the little Ancient Greek urns used for oils and unguents, the Askos jug was designed by Angelo Mangiarotti in 1986. It stands out for the contrast between the roundness of the continuous surfaces on the lower and more capacious part and the clean oblique cut at the end of the arched handle. A graceful yet complex product made entirely by hand in mouth-blown glass that has subsequently been acid-etched, a process that requires all the expertise of the master glassmakers.
