Bibi | Armchair

Doriana Mandrelli and Massimiliano Fuksas

BiBi is a high-tech seating system. Exuding formal and structural simplicity, the BiBi chairs open and close like treasure chests. Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas envisaged a futuristic seat that can be used “closed”, almost like a cushion, or “open”, like a regular chair.

Specifications

The frame of the BiBi chair is made from tubular and laser-shaped metal. Cold-pressed moulded polyurethane foam padding to guarantee absolute comfort and prevent deformation. A low voltage electric motor opens the backrest, which can be controlled by single commands located on the base or using the main control panel. In this way, sectors, rows and various opening settings can be controlled directly by computer systems. BiBi can be personalised with two-tone upholstery and the manual opening of the backrest. Upholstery in Pelle Frau® leather from the Color System using traditional upholstery methods and invisible riveting.
