Peek-a-Book | Large desk

Roberto Lazzeroni

Starting from
€ 11.400

The Peek-a-Book large desk consists of an extremely simple sheet of poplar plywood covered in Pelle Frau® leather which is curved and folded in two to form the base and the desktop, as well as to accommodate two drawers. The base structure consists of an easel made from triangular-section solid ash in a moka or wenge stain which forms three trapezium-shaped supports connected to each other with fine joints created in the wood. The front of the two drawers is in MDF covered in Pelle Frau® leather matching the upholstery of the top, while the internal structure is made from solid ash in a wenge stain.

The upholstery of the top is produced using a particular covering technique without any visible stitching.

Behind the two central drawers, the Peek-a-Book desk has two side flaps that conceal a hollow space. The compartments are designed to act as a conduit for cables and can be used to house multi-sockets or electric cables with Schuko or USB.

It is also possible to install a smartphone induction charger under the leather upholstery of the desktop, as suggested by the branded logo.

Concept and Design

Designed by Roberto Lazzeroni, the Peek-a-Book desk embodies all of the typical elegance and comfort of a Poltrona Frau office, ushering it into the domestic setting. Lazzeroni envisages a generous work surface and a design that revisits the materials, warmth and style of his residential collections while at the same time guaranteeing all of the functions of a “genuine” office desk.

The visual effect is that of a valuable leather-bound book that symbolises the function of the object. In fact, the desk is a place for thinking, collecting our thoughts and looking back over our memories: the most intimate and personal side of the person that uses it to study or work.

The wide Peek-a-Book desk is designed for those who want an impressive workstation that combines generous working space, a striking visual presence and residential elegance in a single piece of furniture. Roberto Lazzeroni’s design reinterprets the idea of a large volume upholstered in Pelle Frau leather, almost like a precious book that opens into the room and transforms into a desk. The solid ash base, stained moka or wengé, the expansive work surface and the rich material details make it particularly suitable for those seeking a commanding yet welcoming desk, with a distinctive aesthetic identity and genuine functionality for everyday use.

Thanks to its generous dimensions, the wide Peek-a-Book desk is ideal for people who need ample surface space to arrange computers, documents, books, work tools and personal belongings without feeling cramped. It is particularly suited to those whose activities require concentration, organisation and room to work: professionals who write, design, study, analyse materials or alternate between digital and paper-based resources. In this respect, it meets the need for a spacious, well-organised workstation that makes work more fluid and improves the overall experience of spending time at the desk.

In a home office, this desk is intended for those who want more than a simple work surface. It is ideal for private studies, substantial libraries, multifunctional rooms and open-plan interiors where the workspace must make a strong statement while remaining compatible with the rest of the furnishings. It is therefore particularly suitable for those seeking a prestigious home office in which the desk helps define the overall character of the space, making it more mature, sophisticated and consistent with a high-end home.

One of its key strengths is its ability to accommodate technology without exposing it. The concealed compartments behind the central drawers make it possible to organise cables, power strips, connections and accessories discreetly, keeping the desktop visually uncluttered. This feature makes the desk ideal for those who value visual order and discreet technology management, especially in spaces where work takes place in full view, alongside bookcases, artworks, upholstered furniture and other domestic elements that call for a harmonious composition. The option of integrating inductive charging further reinforces the idea of technology that is present but never intrusive.

The wide Peek-a-Book desk is also an excellent choice for those who receive clients, business associates or collaborators in their office. In a sophisticated professional setting or a private study within the home, a desk of this kind conveys competence, solidity and design awareness. It is therefore suited to people who want to project an authoritative yet welcoming professional image, moving away from the conventional language of office furniture towards a more personal, cultivated and carefully designed environment.

Stylistically, it finds its most natural place in contemporary, soft-luxury and modern-classic interiors, as well as in projects where wood, leather and generous proportions play a central role. It pairs beautifully with executive leather armchairs, bespoke bookcases, sculptural table lamps, understated rugs and deep or neutral colour palettes. It is particularly suitable for those seeking a desk that genuinely furnishes the space, becoming a focal point that elevates the entire interior beyond its practical function.

It can also be used in private suites, unconventional executive offices, professional ateliers and select hospitality environments where the desk must retain a strong residential character. In these settings, it meets the need for a large, elegant and visually striking desk that is also fully functional for work, reading, writing and extended periods of concentration.

The wide Peek-a-Book desk is therefore ideal for those who see their workspace as an essential part of their lifestyle and personal identity. More than a technical piece of furniture, it is a personal space where material quality, visual calm and a generous work surface combine to create a more organised, focused and enjoyable working experience every day.
