For the London Design Festival 2024, Poltrona Frau and Faye Toogood takes over the Poltrona Frau flagship store on Fulham Road with an installation celebrating the award-winning Squash collection, first presented during Milan Design Week earlier this year.

The installation, titled "A Squashed Space," is an inspirational, tactile, and playful expression of historical references, blending Toogood's restless experimentation with Poltrona Frau's unrivaled leathercraft.

Inside the Fulham Road flagship store, wooden totems covered in sensual, quilted leathers envelop the space with tactile and visual softness. From these draped, curving patchwork walls, doors and windows are cut out in irregular shapes, mirroring the supple lines and relaxed upholstery of the Squash furniture. This creates an environment that invites visitors to explore and interact with the space. The design harmoniously combines fine materials and refined craftsmanship, offering a contemporary interpretation of the luxury and comfort typical of Poltrona Frau.

Toogood's "A Squashed Space" leather room is visible from the street, framed by folk art motifs hand-painted across the glass windows. It is a curious, inviting area designed to be experienced both from the outside and within. The shapes painted on Poltrona Frau's flagship store windows are inspired by the Squash rugs—designs that celebrate Toogood's distinctive use of imperfect and expressive mark-making.
