The Albero GFF100 bookcase on display at Milan’s Castello Sforzesco

12 May 2026

Presented during Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, the Albero GFF100 bookcase takes center stage in the “Gianfranco Frattini 1926–2026” exhibition at Milan’s Castello Sforzesco, on view from March 31 to June 28, 2026. A tribute to one of the great masters of Italian design through one of his most iconic and innovative creations.

Originally designed in the late 1950s as a floor-to-ceiling freestanding room-divider bookcase, Albero is reintroduced by Poltrona Frau in a special celebratory edition that highlights outstanding craftsmanship and material research. The self-supporting structure, rotating 360 degrees, features twelve adjustable shelves in Santos Rosewood, a rare and precious wood distinguished by its sophisticated natural grain, paired with a Brown American Walnut central column. An elegant material contrast that enhances the architectural presence of the original design. Each piece is completed with an antiqued brass plaque bearing the “GFF100” logo, created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gianfranco Frattini’s birth.

The installation at Castello Sforzesco represents one of the key moments in the celebrations dedicated to Gianfranco Frattini, the architect and designer who made a significant contribution to the history of Italian design and to the founding of ADI. Hosted within the Museum of Furniture and Wooden Sculptures and the Sala Castellana, the exhibition explores his design vision and deep connection to wood craftsmanship.

The celebrations will continue on May 20, 2026, at ADI Design Museum with the presentation of the monograph dedicated to Gianfranco Frattini Designer. An event created to further explore the cultural and design legacy of one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Italian design.
