Italian craftsmanship excellence in Chicago

19 June 2023

Our modular seating system for public areas Bay System, developed in collaboration with the prestigious firm Foster+Partners, is being introduced to the U.S. market for the first time at the NEOCON trade show in Chicago.

Bay System, along with a selection of other prominent products in the catalog, is part of the Haworth Showroom booth display, which brings together a wide range of office solutions and dedicates, through dedicated corners, a special focus on the artisanal expertise of the brands that are part of the group.

"Featured Products" is the section devoted to the discovery of Bay System and Cove seating, both created by Poltrona Frau in collaboration with the London-based design studio to offer smart and flexible solutions to the ever-changing needs of waiting areas in public spaces, such as airports and universities.

"Makers Space", on the other hand, highlights through a hands-on demonstration the meticulous craftsmanship in the capitonné finish of the iconic Chester armchairs, which have been in our catalog since 1912. "MART Lobby," in the end, displays the products Archibald Dining Chair, Othello, Xi lamp, Water Illusion, Plot and Sherazade Basket in the frame created by Pergola, the product resulting from the collaboration between Patricia Urquiola and Haworth.

In addition to our presence at Haworth's main booth, our dealer Luminaire Chicago recently revamped its showroom space with our latest additions, including the DUO collection, the Archibald Sofa, and the Dezza armchair with the new Redevance upholstery, providing an additional platform to present the collection to our Chicago audience.

To celebrate the new products and special collaborations that have marked our journey to this day, we have invited three artists originally from Chicago and members of the American Pavilion - Germaine Barnes, Norman Teague, and Brandon Breaux, in conversation with Nicola Coropulis and Dario Rinero - to narrate the collection through different perspectives and points of view.

During the event, Germaine Barnes created a mural on Poltrona Frau leathers, using a variety of colors, which adds a unique artistic touch to the experience. Lastly, the event saw the special participation of Thom Mayne, the celebrated Pritzker Prize-winning architect, who presented his new book "M3: modeled works [archive] 1972-2022 by Morphosis and Thom Mayne". Thom Mayne's presence added a high-level architectural perspective to the event, highlighting the importance of innovation in design practices and the world of furniture.
