The frame of the Ferdinandea bed with storage unit is made of poplar plywood with light polyurethane foam padding upholstered in Pelle Frau® leather and delicate matching tone-on-tone stitching. The cylindrical feet are in black painted metal. The support surface of the storage compartment is made with raw chipboard panels, laminated with a melamine decorative finish that imitates the "Linen" effect in the color Ecru on both sides, and with an edge matching the decorative finish. The lifting mechanism to access the storage unit requires a single opening movement through two leather handles, positioned on the side of the footboard, which lifts the top to the classic tilted position with a gas spring mechanism. The lifting system supports a 170x200cm, up to 45 kg mattress. The Ferdinandea bed with storage unit can be combined with a coordinated soft headboard upholstered in leather, an epitome of the excellent craftsmanship that identifies all Poltrona Frau products and guarantees maximum comfort. The headboard is available in two versions, with either a vertical or horizontal geometric design, and tone-on-tone padding stitching.

The Ferdinandea headboard features a birch plywood frame coated with a layer of polyurethane foam and polyester wadding and upholstered in Pelle Frau®, with delicate matching tone-on-tone stitching that makes up a geometric pattern available in two variations: horizontal or vertical. The back of the Ferdinandea headboard is covered in black canvas and can be anchored to the wall using a bayonet fastening system made of matte black painted metal. Designed to be combined in complete freedom with the different Ferdinandea bed variations, the headboard is available in different lengths:

193x203cm King Size bed → 243cm headboard

170x200cm bed → 211cm headboard

140x200cm bed → 179cm headboard

90x200cm bed → 113cm headboard

The Ferdinandea bed elevates the classic upholstered bed design with soft lines and premium craftsmanship details. Like the legendary Ferdinandea island, coveted and contended for in its swaying appearing and disappearing among the waves in the sea, so the Ferdinandea bed become an object of desire, a peaceful island that finds its raison d'être in the most diverse contexts, because it is in its nature to be able to adapt, catch the eye and blend in at the same time. Designed for those who seek a minimal yet functional and extraordinarily comfortable rest solution, the Ferdinandea bed is also available in a second version with a large storage unit, and can be customized in its structure and coordinated headboard.

Poltrona Frau, Second half of the 60. In the second half of the 1960s, Poltrona Frau created an internal structure to manage research and development. Whilst preserving the know-how of expert craftsmanship, the Centre for Research and Development experiments with new material, new building techniques and creates new forms. The highly specialised design technicians that make up the group benefit from a superbly equipped prototype laboratory, where they can give form to new ideas. Products and raw material are tested in the Analysis and Experimentation Laboratory, a very efficient structure for the fine-tuning of high-quality products conforming international norms.
