The base structure consists of an easel made from triangular-section solid ash in a moka or wenge stain which forms three trapezium-shaped supports connected to each other with fine joints created in the wood. The front of the two drawers is in MDF covered in Pelle Frau® leather matching the upholstery of the top, while the internal structure is made from solid ash in a wenge stain. The upholstery of the top, the front of the drawers, the side walls and the doors accessing the rear compartments is in Pelle Frau® ColorSphere.

The upholstery of the top is produced using a particular covering technique without any visible stitching.

Behind the two central drawers, the Peek-a-Book desk has two side flaps that conceal a hollow space. The compartments are designed to act as a conduit for cables and can be used to house multi-sockets or electric cables with Schuko or USB.

It is also possible to install a smartphone induction charger under the leather upholstery of the desktop, as suggested by the branded logo.

Concept and Design

Designed by Roberto Lazzeroni, the Peek-a-Book desk embodies all of the typical elegance and comfort of a Poltrona Frau office, ushering it into the domestic setting. Lazzeroni envisages a generous work surface and a design that revisits the materials, warmth and style of his residential collections while at the same time guaranteeing all of the functions of a “genuine” office desk.

The Peek-a-Book desk consists of an extremely simple sheet of poplar plywood covered in Pelle Frau® leather which is curved and folded in two to form the base and the desktop, as well as to accommodate two drawers. The visual effect is that of a valuable leather-bound book that symbolises the function of the object. In fact, the desk is a place for thinking, collecting our thoughts and looking back over our memories: the most intimate and personal side of the person that uses it to study or work.

The Peek-a-Book desk is designed for those who want a workspace that feels less like a technical office and more like a refined piece of furniture, naturally integrated into elegant residential interiors. Designed by Roberto Lazzeroni, it combines a strong residential sensibility with the functional requirements of the office environment, transforming the desk into a distinctive design object. Its silhouette evokes a large volume upholstered in Pelle Frau leather. The moka- or wengé-stained ash structure, generous leather-covered desktop and meticulous attention to detail make it particularly suitable for those seeking a warm, organised and visually authoritative workspace without compromising functionality.

In a home office, the Peek-a-Book desk perfectly meets the needs of those who work from home and want to preserve a high standard of aesthetic quality. It is an ideal solution for private studies, libraries, sophisticated living areas and multifunctional rooms where the workspace must coexist harmoniously with the rest of the furnishings, without introducing an overly technical design language. It is therefore intended for those who want a desk that combines professional functionality with a domestic atmosphere, enhancing the room even when the working day is over and the space once again becomes an integral part of the home.

One of its most interesting features is its ability to address a highly contemporary need: organising technology without making it the focal point. The concealed compartments behind the drawers, designed to accommodate cables, power outlets and connections, make it particularly suitable for those who want a clean, organised workstation free from visual clutter. This is a significant advantage for people who work with computers, electronic devices and accessories but do not want cables and power strips to compromise the visual quality of their surroundings. The option of integrating an inductive charging system further reinforces the desk's coherent approach to technology, keeping it discreetly integrated into the design.

The Peek-a-Book desk is also suitable for those who see work as an opportunity for concentration, study and personal reflection. Its generous desktop, the tactile richness of the leather and the composed presence of its structure create a sense of mental as well as physical order. In this respect, it is an appealing solution for those seeking a quieter, more intimate and focused working environment, where every element helps minimise distractions and makes time spent at the desk more enjoyable.

Stylistically, it integrates naturally into contemporary, soft-luxury and modern-classic interiors, as well as homes where materials convey sophistication without ostentation. It pairs beautifully with substantial bookcases, leather armchairs, understated rugs, task lighting, subtle wall panelling and deep or neutral colour palettes. It is therefore particularly suitable for those seeking a desk that genuinely furnishes a space, going beyond a simple work surface to become an element that expresses taste, restraint and craftsmanship.

The Peek-a-Book desk is equally at home in a prestigious professional study or a less formal executive office. It is perfect for those who want to create a representative environment that feels less rigid than a traditional executive office and is closer to the idea of a private study, confidential consultancy space or professional atelier. In these settings, it meets the need for furnishings that communicate expertise and attention to detail while also conveying warmth and approachability, particularly valuable in professions built around relationships, attentive listening and trust.

The desk can also be an interesting choice for select hospitality environments, suites with dedicated study areas, private offices within prestigious residences and multifunctional spaces where work must coexist with comfort. In all these settings, it is ideal for those seeking a high-end desk that retains a refined, residential character while avoiding the impersonal appearance of many professional workstations.

The Peek-a-Book desk is therefore an ideal choice for those seeking more than a piece of furniture on which to work: it creates a place where the daily ritual of work can coexist with order, beauty and visual well-being. It is particularly suited to people who see their study as an extension of their identity and want a desk that brings together functionality, discreetly integrated technology and exceptional material quality.
